Mental Health Matters, featuring the film by Brian Wilson Love & Mercy
The St. Charles Regional Effort of the Campaign to Change Direction encourages everyone to pay attention to their mental well-being, and empowers those in need to receive the care they deserve.
A few recent film releases artfully convey the impact of unaddressed mental health issues on lives, families, and careers. Moreover, cultural icons can do so much to amplify an issue and educate a nation.
Brian Wilson, legendary co-founder of the Beach Boys, and the filmmakers of Love & Mercy, have done both. Love & Mercy is the biopic about Brian’s musical genius and his struggle with mental illness. Love & Mercy has received two Golden Globe Award nominations! Brian Wilson and Scott Bennet for “Best Original Song” One Kind of Love and “Best Supporting Actor” Paul Dano.
Join us on Monday, February 29, 2016 from 6- 9PM for a screening of this honored film, Love & Mercy, followed by a discussion of community mental health leaders who will amplify why mental health matters to you and the lives of those you love.
The Arcada, along with STC Change Direction, are honored to donate proceeds from this event to benefit Suicide Prevention Services.
