PAT BENATAR & NEIL GIRALDO / MELISSA ETHERIDGE
Whether you teased your hair in the 80s, tore your jeans in the 90s or just really, really love music, this show is for the die-hard rock fan in all of us.
First up is rock-n-roll powerhouse duo Pat Benetar and Neil Giraldo. After joining the NYC nightclub circuit, landing a gig on Broadway and making spandex a household clothing item, Pat Benetar was introduced to Neil Giraldo, a guitarist from the Rick Derringer Band. It was game over, musically AND romantically. The couple used their fire-power chemistry to record In the Heat of the Night; Crimes of Passion, which included the million-copy-selling “Hit Me With Your Best Shot,” hit singles “We Belong,” “Invincible” and “Love is a Battlefield” and many more. Along the way, the pair collected 9 Grammy nominations, 10 gold and multi-multi-platinum albums and singles… and 2 daughters.
Then, folk-rock star Melissa Etheridge brings us home. After dropping out of Berklee College of Music to follow her L.A. music dreams, Melissa’s self-titled 1988 album went gold, leading critics to praise her Bruce Springsteen- and John Mellencamp-like vocals. But when Yes I Am – featuring smash hits “Come to My Window” and “I’m the Only One” – hit the airwaves in 1994, this rocker created a league of her own. The album won her a Grammy and the hearts of music fans around the globe. Since then, Melissa’s raspy vocals, honest lyrics and grounded personality became synonymous with feminism and perseverance, with her ground-shattering performance of Janis Joplin’s “Piece of My Heart” at the 2005 Grammy Awards sealing the deal.
